You know what I love about having an iPod shuffle? You never know what gem will pop up unexpectedly. For instance today's shuffle artist was Amy Winehouse. It seemed as though every other song was a Winehouse tune. 'Take the box, 'Love is a losing game' and my favorite 'Wake up alone'. Winehouse is raw talent, talent that's sadly going to waste. Who knows what the real reason behind all her troubles are? I'm gonna go with self-esteem issues but jesus it's sad. Other sassy Brit singers have come up to take her place; Adele, Duffy, Jessie J to name a few but none come close to her gritty sound. Argue with me on that point if you want but have a listen to some Winehouse and tell me she ain't a diamond in the rough. Here's to her comeback!

They tried to make her go to Rehab...

EBTG forever.
Who doesn't know at least one Everything But the Girl song?? If that one person is you, then pay attention to this post! I was jammin' out on my iPod when it shuffled to EBTG's Lullaby of Clubland. The song, from their album Temperamental is, in my opinion, one of their best tracks. It has a new millenium urban nightlife sound that, if you close your eyes, will take you back to a hot apres-club metropolitan night; promise. Check out Temperamental and if you're a Tracey Thorn fan you can get a free download of her song You Are a Lover (Scott Dann Remix) HERE. Also check out my favorite Tracey Thorn song, Raise the Roof.

Recollection: Norah Jones
When Norah Jones released her first album Come Away with Me, I was smitten. I probably listened to that album a million times before it wore out. She's released a number of albums since then but none have really had the widespread success of the first. I'm blogging about her now because I think her music deserves some respect. It's soulful, bluesy and signature Norah Jones. Here are some standout tracks that require some attention, check 'em.
